As Pope Francis has made clear on many occasions, the long synodal journey which the whole Church is undertaking, and which will continue at the local level once the second assembly of the Sixteenth Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops has concluded, should not be understood as a pathway to a new Church. -
