Embracing the Non-Violent Teaching of Jesus

Thursdays, 10-12pm, Newman Siena Centre (Clune Lecture Theatre). In his World Day of Peace message of 1 January 2017, Pope Francis stated that ‘to be true followers of Jesus today also includes embracing his teaching about nonviolence…I pledge the assistance of the Church in every effort to build peace through active and creative nonviolence.’ What did Jesus teach about nonviolence? How are we to embrace and live out his teachings? What does the challenge of 'love your enemies’ mean in our time and place? These three interactive sessions will explore the meaning of violence and nonviolence, the witness of Jesus to nonviolence and key skills that help us to live a more nonviolent life. Cost: $25. Presenter: Mr Brendan McKeague.  Further info or to register, visit http://cfe.org.au/courses-and-events/, email cfe@perthcatholic.org.au, or 08 9241 5221.
