The Administration Officer at the Safeguarding Office is accountable to the Director, Safeguarding Program and will work with Safeguarding staff, and the Director, to apply the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards which align with the National Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Child Sexual Abuse 2021-2030 and the Western Australia National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

The Administration Officer’s role is to provide professional administrative support, encompassing a wide variety of tasks to the Safeguarding Office while maintaining close working relationships with other Safeguarding staff, clergy, parishes, agencies, organisations, ministries and external stakeholders and provide professional administrative support to the WA Professional Standards Office (WAPSO).

  1. Be part of a small team committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all Archdiocesan members, leaders, and especially its children and adults at risk.
  2. Based at convenient location in Victoria Square, Perth.
  3. 3.5 days additional paid leave over Christmas

The successful candidate must have a willingness and capacity to support the Catholic ethos. They will demonstrate a willingness to be part of the Archdiocesan commitment to the safeguarding of its members, especially children and adults at risk. Administratively, they will have the ability to create and maintain databases, take minutes and support committees, and hold advanced level skills using office software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in completing tasks are essential. This role also requires the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle multiple priorities at any given time. The successful candidate will have advanced organisational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills. It would be desirable for the candidate to hold Certificate IV (or higher) in Business Administration or equivalent and have an understanding of the structures of the Catholic Church.

A valid National Police Clearance, WA Driver’s Licence, and proof of unrestricted working rights in Australia required.
